Hi Guys,
Well its in the news in probably every country that Lance Armstrong is once again facing claims of Doping and has now been banned from competing in any of his Triathlons. As many of us know these allegations have been going around for nearly 13 years now so why are they suddenly gaining steam now?
Is it because he has achieved so much are people jealous and spiteful or is there truth to the allegations?
Lance Armstrong factfile
- Born: Plano, Texas
- Teams: Motorola, Cofidis, US Postal, Discovery Channel, Livestrong, Astana, Team RadioShack
- Tour de France: 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 (22 individual stage wins)
- World championships road race: 1993
Lance Armstrong says:
"I have been notified that USADA, an organisation largely funded by taxpayer dollars but governed only by self-written rules, intends to again dredge up discredited allegations dating back more than 16 years...
"These are the very same charges and the same witnesses that the Justice Department chose not to pursue after a two-year investigation."
He added: "Although USADA alleges a wide-ranging conspiracy extended over more than 16 years, I am the only athlete it has chosen to charge.
"I have never doped, and, unlike many of my accusers, I have competed as an endurance athlete for 25 years with no spike in performance, passed more than 500 drug tests and never failed one."
I Guess we will have to wait and see what the outcome is, but all this negative press is surely doing him no good. Its sad to see someone who has come so far and battled Cancer to be torn apart once again by allegations that have already been dropped more than once!
