Challenging Ray-Ban for the title of both the coolest sunglasses and the most popular brand Carrera Sunglasses have been a huge success story since they were re-released to the market by the Safilo group. Orginally launched in the 60's as eyewear for winter sports, during the 70's they changed focus towards the fashion market creating aviator style large shades and even producing eyewear for the Porsche brand. Unfortunately the company died away during the 80's and 90's before Safilo snapped up the rights to the brand and sought to use the company's archive of designs with a modern twist. Taking advantage is the soaring demand for vintage fashion, Carrera used large vintage frames and crated them from bright plastic colours including Orange, Purple, Blue and Red and they instantly became a high street success story.
